My grandson is type 1 diabetic, he’s 8 year old with lots of energy.
Watching my daughter calculate numbers at first is hard. Over the years she has learned a lot. Still struggles with day to day life with a diabetic child.
Let’s get the story of Santa, his role in this review. Christmas morning opening presents and the enjoyment of the excitement of new toys and clothes. As it came to an end my daugther noticed my grandson sitting there looking around. She asked what was wrong? Kory replied Santa forgot something? My daughter what do you mean? I asked for a new pancreas, it’s not here. He just sat in quiet for a bit.
After hearing the story I knew what had to happen. I needed to get Kory a plushie pancreas. I knew all about organ plushies as my son received a gall bladder plushie in 2023. In March of 2024 I had a heart transplant, by May 2024 I had my own heart plushie. It’s sits on my desk to remind me of my heart I once had that flowed blood through my body.
I wrote up a Santa letter (see attached). That was mailed first and then ordered the plushie. The letter arrived he was excited. I got the call the letter arrived and he was looking forward to the gift from Santa.
The box arrived he was so happy to see his name on the package. He opened the box and pulled out the pancreas (no pictures as my daughter forgot). I did get a FaceTime call from Kory and my daughter. He was thrilled by the plushie! What had us laughing was the fact he was more enthralled by your brochure of different plushie’s. He shouted out the ones he wants next. I asked my daughter which ones he wanted thinking brain, stomach or something?? Nope Clitoris came first and then Ovaries. I was laughing! He then said the brain was cool and spine.
Thank you for the opportunity to give a lot of joy to my grandson.
