Esophagus – Down the Hatch!
The esophagus takes food to the stomach! This muscular tube connects your mouth to your tummy with a massage-like movement called peristalsis. When the food goes from the stomach to the mouth, that’s reverse peristalsis, a.k.a. vomiting! If your esophageal sphincter sleeps on the job, stomach acid may leak into your esophagus: that’s heartburn. Ouch!
