With all the talk of Goop's
Vagina-scented candle, we figured it's a great time to talk Vaginas/Vulvas! Are they the same, are they different? What's the deal? The vulva is the decorated doorway on the outside of the body and includes the clitoris, mons, labia, pubes, urethral opening, vaginal opening and all that good stuff. The vagina is the tunnel that connects the uterus to the outside world. So when we talk about the tunnel part, that's the Vagina. When we're talking about the outside part, that's the Vulva. When making our plush toy, I wanted to make sure the VAGINA had a face and name, because, boy, is that tunnel one badass, muscular, powerful, flexible organ! Technically, yes, our Vagina/Vulva pillow looks like a Vulva, but the vaginal opening is the part with the face because I did not want to throw said vagina under the bus merely because it's inside the body. Vagina and Vulva are great friends who work together. They are not enemies. Also, while we're at it, pee does not come out of your vagina, it comes out of the urethral opening located between your clitoris and vaginal opening.
