Happy Spring
If your heart belongs to Japan, you’ll love the Sakura Matsuri street festival April 14th from 11am-6pm on Pennsylvania Avenue near 9th street, we'll be snuggling safely between the FBI and Department of Justice. Whether you like cosplay or kimonos, ninjas or manga, Sodoku or sushi, this family-friendly festival will fill your fix for all things Japanese. Part of Washington, D.C.’s celebration of the blossoming cherry trees that transform the nation’s capitol into a flower-filled Nihon-style springtime, the street festival, sponsored by the Japan-American Society of Washington D.C., is in its 52nd year, and it’s been 100 years since Japan gave Washington D.C. its signature cherry trees that scatter blossoms around the city. “How many things in this world qualify as both kawaii and educational?” The Sakura Festival organizers recently Tweeted, “We think I Heart Guts! plushie organs are.” Hope to see you there!
