After metaphorically banging my head against a wall for two weeks, I finally got this drawing done for the updated hangtag for our heart plushie. A heart-to-heart with my favorite cardiac nurse really helped -- I sent her a whiny text asking for help with this drawing and she wrote back, "Waiting for a 'fresh heart' to come out of OR right now." Thank you for the reality check, Sheila Rose!

The heart is amazing in so many ways! It's electrical! It's mechanical! It's awesome!

While she waits for this dream to come true, Brigette M. inadvertently granted a secret wish of mine -- for someone to tattoo an I Heart Guts organ on their body. Thank you, Brigette, for adopting our lung as your mascot while you wait for your new lungs. Our guts are crossed for some lungs to cross your path soon.
cmpc-donate-life-eventA few guts spruced up the tables at the Transplant Ethics Community Education Event, hosted by California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. The event included a lecture on topics vital to people in the transplant community -- who gets an organ and when? How will these organs be obtained? All good stuff, we hope the guts were good listeners. {All photos by Benjamin Robert}
