Guts in Norcal

Posted: Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

Picture 9We had tons of fun at Renegade LA last weekend, met many good people and had a ball talking about pituitary gland dysfunction, spleen disorders and other such topics at the show. We tried to make the best of a crappy out-of-the-way booth spot with some special “urine luck” bladder and “rest your testicles” signs for the bathrooms (someone stole my testicle sign, boo hoo!) — see photos, all by FiddybobiddyFiddy on Flickr. Now the guts are hitting the road to get up to Renegade San Francisco at the Fort Mason Pavillion this weekend! Details and more here, hope to see you there! Wear a gutsy see and get a free lapel pin of your choice!

Yet Another Freakshow

Posted: Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

picture-8Hooray, we can’t wait for Bazaar Bizarre in San Francisco, comin’ up thanksgiving weekend! The holiday handmade retail show is promises to have the same ol’ freaky good stuff they always bring together, from happy fruit to felted frozen dinners (isn’t that incredible?), satin robots and all kinds of other stuff. The show’s emphasis on weirdness makes it a favorite of ours, and we are still bummed the Los Angeles show seems to be no more. Anyway, please stop by our booth, the show is at 9th Ave and Lincoln Way in San Francisco, Sunday Nov. 30, 11am-7pm. Don’t miss it!

Renegade Rocks

Posted: Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

San Francisco’s first Renegade Craft Fair was quite fabulous, we had a good ol’ time meeting people and sending them away with guts galore. My favorite thing about these shows is meeting the amazing people who buy our stuff — folks who wander up to the booth with a giant smile on their face and a twinkle in their eye and say, “I had a liver transplant! Check out my awesome scar!” and whip up their shirt to show it off, or, “Hey, I have diabetes!” as if it was the greatest thing on earth rather than a truly devastating affliction. These people inspire us to no end with a positive attitude in the face of disease, and for that we’d like to say — you guys rock. More than just our guts were on the scene, we saw some cute stitched anatomically correct hearts from Art School Dropout, body part passport holders, and some ventricle-laced felt hearts stitched upon a sweatshirt. We really loved everything by Brookadelphia, but especially their “sick” necklace. Great stuff everywhere, we had a great time and the baby miraculously slept, even during the punk rock marching band.

Renegades in San Fran

Posted: Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

We have long loved the Renegade Craft Fair, and lamented its absence from the west coast craft scene. Well hoo-ray and yee-haw, the fair is coming to San Francisco and the Guts will be there! Our pals over at The Particle Zoo will also be in effect, along with hundreds of other indie-rock vendors and maker-type geeks. Our hope is that Renegade continues its national domination and sets up shop down here in old Los Angeles, where we have a big, gaping, empty sad hole where Bazaar Bizarre used to be (Greg, come back! We miss you). And we’re not sure what’s going on with Felt Club for the summer, either. Our best guess is that Felt Clubmaster Jenny is still exhausted from last year’s two XL events. We hope she’s enjoying a wine cooler poolside somewhere during her well-deserved break.
