Hello Brain

Posted: Monday, March 12th, 2012

What are you doing to celebrate your brain for Brain Awareness Week? Seems like a silly awareness week, after all, the brain is in charge of being aware of everything we do and think. But seriously, this is the week to celebrate the marvels of brain research, so give yourself a pat on the head if you love your brain.

Best Kidney Day Evar

Posted: Thursday, March 8th, 2012

I just had the honor and privilege of meeting some of the amazingly gutsy nurses who work at the Heart and Kidney Transplant Unit at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C. The nurses there decided to celebrate World Kidney Day in style with kidney-themed cupcakes and kidney themes cookies (aren’t they amazing?) and yes, kidney-themed shirts! Being inside a children’s hospital is always a humbling experience. I can’t imagine the incredible guts required to go through what the kids go through, deal with what the parents of ill children deal with and see what the doctors and nurses see day in and day out. It makes my stomach drop to think about the strength required to endure all that. So impressed. Thanks for letting me visit, ladies!

Happy World Kidney Day!

Vote Guts!

Posted: Wednesday, February 29th, 2012

It’s time to vote! Uncommon Goods, a great online store based in Brooklyn, NY, is considering stocking their store with some guts, but before they do, they ask people to vote for or against products. So go ahead and give the guts a thumbs-up or thumbs down (it’s okay, you can be honest, we’ll never know), it helps the store get feedback! The only annoying thing is that you do have to log in to vote (bummer, I know), thanks for your input!

Gifty Guts

Posted: Thursday, February 2nd, 2012

My home for the past five days was perched high above the Hudson River on Pier 92 while I showed the guts at the New York International Gift Fair in New York City. As I drove into the city, I felt butterflies in my stomach, my heart skipped a beat and felt a lump in my throat, excitement that feels like being in love, but really it’s just being in New York. Had a great time reconnecting with old friends, making new ones, talking about guts, eating delicious things and drinking more than I should have (my poor liver!). I loved meeting so many interesting people from all over the world, from Tasmania to Iceland to South Africa to Japan. Had a blast, hope you all did the same!

Nerd Power!

My geeky heart swells with pride — an interview in Games Magazine! I know most people will flip right past it since it’s not a puzzle or a game review, but I’m still honored to be included in a mag read by such smart people. If only my brain was smart enough to do the puzzles…

Don’t pick the one with the urine center! Our lapel pin display at the DC Valentine’s Pop-up shop at Trohv, go check it out if you’re in the urea, I mean, area, it’s super close to the Takoma stop on the Metro red line. And at right, a peek into the Trohv Baltimore store! Guts galore and more, ready a little early to serve your weekend guts-fondling needs.

Love is in the Air

Seeing as love is a many-gendered thing, we got together some testicles and ovaries, and ovaries and ovaries, and testicles and testicles and set them up with a champagne and chocolate romantic (if totally unhealthy) feast.
